Pandemic EBT (P-EBT) is a special SNAP benefit that was issued to households with school-age children who were eligible for free and reduced-price meals at school through the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) but whose school was closed or had reduced hours due to COVID-19.

Summer P-EBT benefits refer to the continuation of P-EBT benefits for the summer months of July and August 2023.

Children who received free or reduced-price lunch through the National School Lunch Program and were attending school at the end of the 2022-2023 school year.

Yes. This year, parents/guardians must complete an application to receive Summer P-EBT. The application can be completed online at https://ndsummerebt.nd.gov/. If you can't complete the application online, you can get a paper application by sending an email to snap- pebt@nd.gov

If your children are not currently eligible but might be for the 2023-2024 school year, you are encouraged to complete a Free/Reduced-Price application by August 25, 2023, to be eligible to receive Summer P-EBT benefits. Contact the school where your children will be attending for an application form.

Each eligible child can receive a total one-time lump sum of $120.

You will receive the total amount of benefits for the eligible children on your application for a new P-EBT card. P-EBT cards that were issued in prior years will not be used.

Depending on when your application is received, benefits will be issued on the following timeline:

• Application received by June 11th: Benefits issued July 13th
• Application received by July 23rd: Benefits issued August 3rd
• Application received by August 21st: Benefits issued September 7th

Yes. If students received free or reduced-priced lunch at an NSLP participating school and graduated at the end of the 2022–2023 academic year, they will receive Summer P-EBT benefits for the summer of 2023.

No, homeschooled students are not eligible for Summer P-EBT.

No, it does not. Using P-EBT benefits does not impact an individual’s immigration status. The public charge rule does not apply to P-EBT benefits.

No. You cannot transfer the card to someone else. Buying or selling P-EBT benefits for cash is illegal and may result in disqualification from the program or having to pay a penalty.
